M.I.G.S. Q After ending some programs, I notice in Task Manager that most of my RAM is still in use.  How do I free up my memory? All
Bob Young 2 A There is a free program called “Free Mem” that can free up your memory.  If you have the problem with only certain programs, make sure you have the latest version of software.
M.I.G.S. Q Zone Alarm appears to be causing conflicts with other programs.  What could be causing this? All
Bob Young 2 A If you've recently done an update to XP Service Pack 2, make sure you have the latest version of Zone Alarm.
M.I.G.S. Q When I try to download using IE6 and Windows 98, I get a warning that a program called Vector Graphics Engine is running.  Any ideas? All
Bob Young 2 A The Vector Graphics Engine is the active component in Zone Alarm.  Do all Windows 98 Updates and get the latest version of Zone Alarm.
M.I.G.S. Q Recently I have been getting prefetch warnings.  What is it and what can I do to stop the messages? XP
John Sturges A Prefetch is a system utility built into Windows to speed up memory access by the CPU.  Over time prefetch can grow to be huge.  Clean up your system files using ccleaner.
M.I.G.S. Q Rootkit Revealer finds True Vector when run.  What is it and should I remove it? All
Bob Young 2 and Sturg A True Vector is another component of Zone Alarm.  Exit ZA before running test.
Marion Kennedy Q Where do we go to get Rootkit Revealer? All
Bob Young 2 and Sturg A Google for “rootkit revealer”.  I think the website is www.sysinternals.com.  The site explains the purpose of RKR  and has links to some removal tools.

11:00 AM: Virtual Coffee Break

OS
M.I.G.S. Q Re-installed XP, did all the XP updates, then I installed my printers.  Now my old printers don't work anymore. XP
Bob Young 2 A You may have over written a newer DLL with an old one from the printer's CD.  Check the manufacturer's website for XP-SP2 drivers.  You may have to use the latest XP or Windows 2000 drivers and they could be several years old.  Do not use the drivers that came with the printer if the printer is more than 4 years old or, next time, install the old printer drivers before you update XP.
M.I.G.S. Q How do I print only a portion of a web page? All
Bob Young 2 & Sturg A

Highlight the text you want to print by holding down the left mouse button and dragging the “I beam” over the block of text you want to print.  Then hold down the Control key and tap the letter P to open the Print dialog box.  In the Print range pane, choose “Selection” as shown below:

PrintWeb

M.I.G.S. Q When I click on a recently saved document in Word Perfect it can't find my files.  I recently re-installed Windows and put my WP documents in a different place.  How do I fix this? All
Bob Young 2 & Sturg A Configure Word Perfect to look in the new location.  Click on the Tools tab and choose Options and look for a Folders tab.  You should see a Browse button, click on it to browse to the correct folder.   Click OK and your done.

11:51 AM: Meeting adjourned.
