Q

IE's back button won't work when I click on links.  What might be causing this?

Bob (2)

A

Remove all optional tool bars like Yahoo or Google.  If that doesn’t fix it, try a different browser like Firefox to see if it is an XP problem or an IE problem.

Q

How do I copy and paste text or photos from an Adobe Acrobat Reader PDF file?

All

Bob (2)

A

Not all PDF files allow you to copy and paste from them.  Open the file.  Click on the File Tab and click on Document Properties.  Then, look at the “Security” settings, if you see the word “None” you can cut & paste.

If so, click on the “Text Icon” then highlight the text you want and hit enter.  You can now paste the text in any other document.

The arrow points to the Text Icon, the hand to the Image Icon.

Q

I can't open some Emailed PPT files.  I have the free PPT viewer, but it doesn't always work.  How do I fix this?

All

John S.

A

Files with a “PPT” extension are created by Microsoft PowerPoint, a $100 + program which can be purchased separately or is part of Microsoft Office $200 +.

A free alternative to Microsoft Office is Open Office from www.openoffice.org or you can find a free PowerPoint Viewer by going to www.microsoft.com and search for “PowerPoint Viewer”.  They also have free viewers for Word and Excel.
